- Plectorhyncha lanceolata
Identification
22cm. Grey-brown above, grey-white head, upper neck striped black, whitish underparts with faint streaks on the belly and undertail. Long, pointed feathers on upper breast and throat, giving the head a shaggy appearance. Females are browner on the back than males, with more greyish underparts, while young birds are duller and less streaked overall. Blue grey bill and legs, dark eye.

Forests, woodlands, along rivers, mangroves and urban areas.
Behaviour
It builds a cup-shaped nest from grass. Both parents incubate the eggs.
The diet includes nectar and plant sugars, insects, fruit and berries.
