Subspecies
There are 5 subspecies
- P. u. ilokensis:
- North Luzon (northern Philippines)
- P. u. urostictus:
- North Philippines (Luzon and Polillo); formerly Catanduanes
- P. u. atricaudatus:
- Philippines (Bohol, Samar, Panaon, Biliran and Leyte)
- P. u. philippensis:
- South Philippines (Dinagat, Siargao and Mindanao)
- P. u. basilanicus:
- South Philippines (Basilan and Zamboanga area of Mindanao)
Habitat
Forest edges, open woodland, second growth; occurs up to 1000m
Behaviour
Diet
There is not much known, they do forage on fruit, singly, in pairs or small groups.
Breeding
They construct a cup-shaped nest for their 3 eggs.
