Formerly endemic to Nuku Hiva, Marquesas Islands.
Last recorded in the 1930s.

Taxonomy

This was a monotypic species.
Formerly considered conspecific with Marquesan Monarch.

Habitat

Presumed to have preferred lowland forest in the past.
