Distribution

Africa
Western Africa: Angola
Eastern Africa: Zambia
Southern Africa: Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Lesotho

Taxonomy

Subspecies

There are 5 subspecies^[1]:

• P. f. ansorgei:

• Coastal Angola and Namibia (Namib Desert to Walvis Bay)

• P. f. bihe:

• Angola highlands to Zambia

• P. f. flavicans:

• Namibia to Botswana and north-western Cape Province

• P. f. nubilosa:

• Eastern Botswana to south-western Zambia, south-western Zimbabwe and Transvaal

• P. f. ortleppi:

• South-western Transvaal to western Orange Free State and north-eastern Cape Province

Habitat

Arid scrub, savanna amd gardens.

Behaviour

Diet

The diet includes invertebrates, fruit, seeds and nectar.

Breeding

Monogomous. They nest in trees and and shrubs the clutch consists of 2-6 green eggs.
