Asia: found in montane forests of northern India, south-western China and northern Myanmar.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Broad-leaved forest, woods, usually in thick undergrowth.

Behaviour

Diet

They eat a variety of seeds, berries and buds.

Breeding

Little known; they are thought to nest in rhododendrons.
