Selenidera reinwardtii

Identification

33–35 cm
There are two sub-species which have very different bill colouring.
S. r. langsdorffii has a black bill but with the base a green-grey colour

Distribution

South America: found in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Brazil

Subspecies

There are 2 subspecies^[1]:

• S. r. reinwardtii:

• South-eastern Colombia (along Brazil border) to eastern Ecuador and north-eastern Peru

• S. r. langsdorffii:

• Tropical eastern Peru to north-western Bolivia and western Amazonian Brazil

Habitat

Forest and forest edges.

Behaviour

Diet

Their diet consists of fruit, particularly figs and some insects.
