South Eurasia: found locally in mountains of south-eastern Turkey to northern China and northern Pakistan.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Breeds in dry, flat country, with scattered acacia and tamarisk trees and bushes, gardens and desert oases.

Behaviour

Diet

The diet includes mainly seeds and some insects.

Breeding

They nest in trees. The 4-6 pale green, lightly speckled eggs are incubated by the female.
