Seems to be most common in upper scrub forest or edges to more open grassy areas. Recorded at elevations ranging from 2,775 m to 3,500 m, but primarily at 2,900‒3,100 m asl.

Behaviour

One bird had eaten insects.

This species produces "churrs" of a "distinct, rattling quality" - see description in the paper with the description of the species.
