- Certhiasomus stictolaemus
Identification
Bill relatively short, straight, slender, and dark, while the tail is relatively long and graduated. Mostly brown, with rufous tones on tail and rump, supercilium buffy and present but indistinct, underside olive-brown with white spots on throat and upper breast.
Similar species
Long-tailed Woodcreeper has an even longer tail, Wedge-billed Woodcreeper has a bill even shorter.
Distribution
Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, French Guiana, and Brazil, in all cases east of the Andes.
Taxonomy
Three subspecies are recognized[1]:
- secunda
- clarior
- stictolaema
Formerly placed in the genus Deconychura.
Habitat
Moist lowland forests.
Behaviour
Fourages low, often in mixed flocks
