Identification
Spotted flanks, yellow eye.
Distribution
Burundi, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia.
Taxonomy
Three subspecies are recognized[1]:
- T. l. lacrymosa
- Extreme northeastern Democratic Republic of the Congo to southern Sudan, northern Kenya, Uganda and northeastern Tanzania
- T. l. radcliffei
- eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo and southern Uganda to central Kenya, south to Burundi and western Tanzania
- T. l. ruahae
Habitat
Damp woodland from 600-2100m in the Highlands and their surrounding plateaux.
Behaviour
The diet includes figs and berries and also take insects such as termites or beetles.
