Identification

17–19 cm (7-7½ in)

Distribution

Western South America: found in north-western Peru (upper arid Río Marañón Valley)

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species.

Placed in the genus Siptornopsis by Gill and Donsker.

Habitat

Montane scrubby areas with cactus.

Behaviour

Normally seen in pairs.

Diet

Their diet consists of insects and beetles.
