Central and South America
Central America: found in Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama and Netherlands Antilles
South America: occurs only in Colombia and Ecuador

Taxonomy

Subspecies

There are 4 subspecies^[1]:

• T. l. larvata:

• Tropical southern Mexico (northern Oaxaca and Tabasco) to northern Costa Rica

• T. l. centralis:

• Caribbean slope of Costa Rica and western Panama

• T. l. franciscae:

• Pacific slope of Costa Rica and western Panama

• T. l. fanny:

• Pacific slope of Panama to Colombia and north-western Ecuador

Habitat

Rain Forest: forest edges and second growth areas; gardens; highland river borders; lowland forest and agriculture areas. Observed at heights around 1,524 m.

Behaviour

Diet

Their diet consists of fruit and insects.
