Description

Taxonomy

Tersina is a genus in the family Thraupidae. According to SACC1, this genus is close to Dacnis and Cyanerpes, embedded in the middle of Tanagers through both molecular and morphological data; in the past, it has been treated as a member of a monotypic family Tersinidae or as the basal sister taxon to all other tanagers.
