Eastern Africa: Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Somalia

Subspecies

There are 2 subspecies^[1]:

• T. m. margaritatus:

• Eastern Mauritania to Chad, Sudan, northern Ethiopia and Eritrea

• T. m. somalicus:

• Eastern Ethiopia and Djibouti to northern Somalia

Habitat

Dry thornbrush, stream banks.

Behaviour

Omnivorous. Their diet consists of berries and fruits, and insects such as grasshoppers, centipedes, beetles and locusts.
