Asia: found in the mountains of southern China (Yunnan), eastern Bhutan, northern Myanmar, north-western Vietnam
This is a monotypic species.
Tall subtropical hill forests. Prefers the understorey.
Their main diet consists of insects such as grass hoppers, moths and stick insects. They also eat berries and large seeds like acorns.
