Juvenile: have pink legs. The take three years to complete their adult plumage.
Similar Species
Distribution
Islands in Gulf of California; ranges north to Salton Sea.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Rocky and sandy islands which lack vegetation.
Behaviour
Diet
Their diet consists of fish, invertebrates, crabs, small seabirds and pelican eggs. They also scavenge on dead marine mammals, food scraps and offal.
