Identification

• Buffy loral spot

Distribution

South America: found in Peru, Bolivia, Brazil

Taxonomy

Subspecies

Two subspecies accepted:^[1]

• H. b. yessupi:

• Eastern and central Peru and immediately adjacent western Brazil

• H. b. berlepschi:

• Southern Amazonian Brazil to south-eastern Peru and north-central Bolivia

Habitat

They like the dense undergrowth of forest edges and overgrown clearings. Generally at heights below 500m.

Behaviour

Diet

Little is known, but their diet appears to consist of insects. They usually forage alone on the forest floor.

Breeding

There is no information on breeding activity.

Movements

They are thought to be sedentary.
