Africa:
Western Africa: Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo, Nigeria, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Congo, Angola
Eastern Africa: Kenya, Uganda
Taxonomy
Formerly placed in genus Andropadus.
Subspecies
There are 2 subspecies[1]:
- E. a. ansorgei:
- Sierra Leone to Gabon, northern Angola, northern Zaire and western Uganda
- E. a. kavirondensis:
- Western Kenya (northern Kavirondo to Mount Elgon area)
E. a. muniensis is not recognised by most authorities[2]
Habitat
Evergreen and semi-deciduous forest, both primary and mature, also dry inselberg forests.
Behaviour
Diet
Their diet consists of fruit, seeds and insects.
