Grallaria capitalis

Identification

17 cm (6¾ in)

  • Dusky brown crown
  • Chestnut upper parts
  • Rufous underparts and sides of head
  • Whitish belly patch

Distribution

South America: found on the eastern slope of Andes of Peru (Junín, Pasco and Huánuco)

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Humid montane forests and forest edges.

Behaviour

Diet

Their diet is not well known, but they forage in the undergrowth apparently for insects and snails.
