Identification
21 cm
Male
- Head, neck and throat are black
- Olive-green upperparts
- Breast is paler
- Underparts are more yellow, with slight dusky barring
- Short dark bill
- Red iris
Female - similar with olive on crown and sides of head.
Similar species
Hooded Berryeater is found at higher elevation.
Distribution
South America: found in coastal south-eastern Brazil (Alagoas and eastern Bahia to north-eastern Paraná)
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Moist lowland forests.
Behaviour
The diet includes fruit.
