Pakistan, India, NE Myanmar, China and southeast Asia.
Taxonomy
There are 4 subspecies.
- C. m. melaschistos: Northern Pakistan, Himalayas and north-eastern Indian subcontinent
- C. m. avensis: Western China to central and southern Myanmar, northern Thailand and northern Vietnam
- C. m. intermedia: Central and southern China and Taiwan
- C. m. saturata: Northern Vietnam and Hainan
Habitat
Open forest and groves.
Behaviour
The diet includes invertebrates.
