Genus: Strepera

Description

Currawongs (or Bell-Magpies) are superficially similar to Jays and Crows in other parts of the world, but are not closely related.
They are only found in Australia. They share:

  • A dark plumage with some white areas
  • A strong, conical bill
  • An omnivorous diet
  • A large, crow like body, but more slender and less robust

Taxonomy

Strepera is a genus in the family Cracticidae.
