Overview
On the banks of the River Clydach, this reserve consists of mainly oak woodland with some birch and Beech and wetter areas with Alder and Ash. Above the woods are stretches of bracken and heather-covered slopes.
Birds
Notable Species
Breeding birds include an assemblage typical of a Welsh woodland with Pied Flycatcher, Common Redstart and Wood Warbler as well as all three British woodpeckers and Tawny Owl. Common Dipper and Grey Wagtail can be seen along the river and Northern Wheatear and Tree Pipit on the higher, more open ground.
In winter Common Snipe and Woodcock, Fieldfare and Redwing, Siskin and Lesser Redpoll are common visitors to the reserve.

Access and Facilities
The reserve lies north-west of the village of Clydach which is on the A4067 just north of Junction 45 of the M4. From the centre of the village take a minor road up the valley to the village of Craigcefnparc and on to the reserve car-park.
A marked path follows the riverside and visitors are requested to keep to it. This excellent woodland reserve is only 11km from the city of Swansea and an ideal site for educational visits.
