Overview

The site of an old granite quarry, Halibut Point State Park offers fantastic views: all the way to the coast of Maine on clear days. It's a great place to see many varieties of grebes, ducks, gulls, and loons.

Site Information

There is absolutely no swimming allowed in the quarry. Also, visitors enter the ocean at their own risk: the coastline is very hazardous.

History and Use

The site of the park is the former Babson Farm granite quarry. The Visitor Center is an old fire control tower that was used in WWII.

Areas of Interest

The Town of Rockport owns property adjacent to Halibut Point called Sea Rocks, which is open for public use.

Halibut Point has a parking lot, visitor center, and restrooms.
