Identification

13·5–15 cm (5¼-6 in)

  • Yellowish-buff supercilium
  • Ochre-yellow on breast
  • Upperparts broadly streaked black
  • Broad breast-band of bold streaks
  • Black cheek spot
  • Blackish moustachial stripe

South America: found locally in South-east Brazil, south-eastern Paraguay and north-eastern Argentina.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Savanna grasslands, dry pastures and fields at heights up to 900 m.

Behaviour

Diet

They forage on the ground for insects. But little more information is available.
