There are 3 subspecies:
- I. v. viridescens:
- I. v. lekhakuni:
- I. v. cinnamomeoventris:
- Thai-Malay Peninsula (Mergui District and Isthmus of Kra south at least to Songkhla)
Formerly considered conspecific with Cachar Bulbul. Also the former subspecies myitkyinensis is now included in Grey-eyed Bulbul, lekhakuni and cinnamomeoventris were transfered from this species here.
Habitat
Moist lowland forests and montanes.
