Identification

Grey-black, brownish belly.

Distribution

Bolivia and Peru. 1

Taxonomy

Monotypic.

Habitat

Moist montanes and high-altitude shrubland. 1

Behaviour

The nest is made from plant material including mosses, lichens, rootlets, leaves, small sticks, and are at times lined with grasses, hair, or feathers, and are built in burrows in earthbanks. 2 white eggs are laid and both parents incubate for 15-19 days. 2

The diet includes insects and their larvae.
