Identification
39–41 cm (15¼-16 in)
- Slate-gray head
- Black half collar
- Yellowish-green overall plumage
- Yellow bill, upper mandible has a red tip
Male has long central tail feathers

- Greyish-green face
- Green head with faint pale green stripe below cheeks to hindcrown
- Short tail
- Orange bill
- Grey eye
Distribution
Asia: found from Himalayas (Afghanistan to northern India, Nepal and western Assam)
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Subtropical deciduous and coniferous woodlands, particularly with Deodar Cedar Cedrus deodara. Cultivated areas. Observed at heights around 2100 m (7000 ft) above msl.
Behaviour
Diet
Their diet consists of a variety of fruits, berries and seeds.
Vocalisation
Call given by a group sitting in the canopy, then flying-off.
