Similar Species

Freckle-breasted Thornbird is similar but well separated in range and habitat preferences


Andes of southern Bolivia and north-western Argentina (south to La Rioja)


This is a monotypic species[1].

Until recently treated as a subspecies of Freckle-breasted Thornbird.


Dry to semi-humid high altitude forests (and possibly shrubland).


Mostly keeps itself hidden. Song a series of well separated notes.
