Description

Bluish-gray upperparts with two white wing-barrs. Underside including throat yellow (except undertail coverts, which are white); face shows a yellow eye-brow and sub-ocular crescent bordered in black. Dark bill but flesh-colored legs. Females very similar to males, just a little less constastingly marked.

Identification

Most of the year, this bird should be fairly easy within range. If birding during migrations, there are a few North American warblers that are similar, but not badly so.

Distribution and Taxonomy

A monotypic species limited to St. Lucia in the Lesser Antilles. Formerly part of the the Dendroica adelaidae (Adelaide's Warbler) complex. Now considered a good species as is the formerly associated Dendroica subita (Barbuda Warbler).

Habitat

Forests at all elevations.
