18 cm (7 in)
Male

  • Cinnamon-rufous nape
  • Olive upperparts
  • Yellow underparts

Distribution

South America: found in Venezuela, Guyana and Brazil.

Subspecies

There are 6 subspecies[1]:

  • A. p. personatus:
  • Tepuis of southern Venezuela (Mount Roraima and adjacent tepuis)
  • A. p. collaris:
  • Tepuis of southern Venezuela (Auyan-tepui in south-eastern Bolívar)
  • A. p. duidae:
  • Tepuis of southern Venezuela (Mount Duida in Amazonas)
  • A. p. parui:
  • Tepuis of southern Venezuela (northern Amazonas)
  • A. p. paraquensis:
  • Tepuis of southern Venezuela (Cerro Paraque and Cerro Yaví)
  • A. p. jugularis:
  • Cerro de la Neblina (Venezuela/Brazil border in south-eastern Amazonas)

Habitat

Shrubby borders and clearings. Understorey of wet forests in tepui.

Behaviour

Diet

There is not much published information. Their diet consists of arthropods and berries. they forage close to the ground constantly cocking the tail.
