Similar Species

Differ from Moustached Wren in having grey underparts versus tawny in Moustached Wren, and even more significantly in voice.

Distribution

Along the Andes of Venezuela, Colombia, and Ecuador.

Eight subspecies are recognized1.

This species was for a while placed as a subspecies of Moustached Wren but is now again seen as a full species.
