The female Sunbird I'm not sure.

The Weaver may be African Masked Weaver, but again not 100% sure.

They were photographed around Entebbe in January of last year.

Thank you for your feedback.

1. I'll tell you the flower (Leonotis), but I tend to walk away from sunbirds that look like this.
2. Not sure what you mean by 'African masked weaver', but it's a village weaver (which goes under various other names too, but not, I think, that one).

Ploceus velatus

Any more images of the sunbird Jose? There appears to be some residual red on the chest, perhaps suggesting Mario? Seem to remember them being fairly common in Entebbe. I agree with Butty, Village weaver P. cucullatus

Possibly Amethyst Sunbird.
I think that Amethyst is only found in the extreme east and north of Uganda, so unlikely to occur in Entebbe. Green throated is within range, but I think is generally associated with decent primary and secondary forest, I only saw it at Kibale.

Thank you, Daniel. Yes, it could be Marico as well, as you are suggesting. Here's 3 more photos of the bird, in case they help.

OK more pictures helped! It is a non-breeding red chested sunbird, check out the moulting tail feathers and uniformly dark contrasting tail, limited white under the eye, lack of supercilium and yellowish remiges.

Thank you Daniel for your detailed description. A common sunbird around Entebbe too, so it makes sense. Should have thought of that one.

Thank you all for your feedback 👏

These additional sunbird photos are far more useful than the first one (e.g. bill-shape, tail-structure). It helps if all the most-useful photos for an ID are posted right at the start.
