My Swifts have gone (1 Viewer)

On a weekend visit to Irelands northwest, I was surprised to see 4 swifts in amongst a large flock of house martins over Sligo town centre on Sunday evening. Quite late for them to be around so far west.

Si.

Per irishbirding.com, the last swift reported last year in Irl was Sept 24th, so still some time to go...

I was sitting out my front garden this afternoon & saw a large raptor heading my way with drooping wings. Before I looked at it I was expected a Red Kite which are seen most days over the house. As it got closer I was shocked to see it was a Honey Buzzard. As I watched it circling ahead of me, moderately high I saw at least 6 Swifts briefly mobbing it. My first over the house for over 2 weeks & clearly migrants. I suspect if I hadn't had my bins up on the Honey Buzzard I wouldn't have spotted them

Two Swifts this evening over Torry in Aberdeen. My first for nearly a month and, I think, my latest ever in Scotland.
