Birding in Worcestershire (1 Viewer)

2 Dippers along the Belne Brook yesterday first light. I realised the adult Dipper is probably at the same spot first light similar to when the River Rea/Bourn Brook Dippers would appear. Its territory. And it was there. Very quiet singing then feeding. Then a good surprise to find a juvenile Dipper Belbroughton. My second there this year, the previous an adult. Possibly bred locally? Maybe another Belne Brook breeding pair?

3 Dippers Belne Brook this morning.
At first no Dipper then I could hear one quietly singing. I waited maybe 20 minutes & it flew in to its usual spot. (D).
Further upstream a surprise 2 Dippers flew past me chasing. Then one appeared, a juvenile. It disappeared & then I think the 2nd appeared as it didnt look like a juvenile. (B).I wonder if this juvenile was from the same pair/brood as last weekends?

Yesterday 3 Dippers, Belne Brook.
The usual Dipper, quietly singing, feeding then a surprise 2nd quickly flew in, tried to give the first a peck & then was gone. Then got a photo of both of them. (D).
Further upstream, blink & I would have missed it, just saw a Dipper fly along & under a bridge. (B).

Last Saturday I was amazed an Otter swam past in the Belne Brook. Especially after seeing one the day before at the River Rea.
The weekend before I thought I heard Kingfishers calling.
It was good to see one stop by briefly by the Dipper.
Then I realised where the Kingfisher calls were coming from as they flew just over head & off down the brook.
Belbroughton briefly what looked like a juvenile Dipper.

Saturday morning, first light Belne Brook (D) Dipper feeding, Kingfisher, Grey Wagtail.
Belbroughton, Belne Brook, Dipper feeding.

The Belbroughton Belne Brook Dipper & the other further along (D) both this weekend & last. The 2nd Dipper does not stop that long, wonder if its moulting. A Kingfisher flew in which is a good surprise & saw a Sparrowhawk.

Last weekend a Dipper at Belbroughton.
The weekend before 4 Dippers with 3 at Belbroughton including an adult & juvenile chasing each other for the territory. The 3rd along a new stretch to me.
The 4th further along the Belne Brook(D).

Maybe due to the rain last weekend there were no Belne Brook Dippers. So I didn't expect to see any yesterday, but good to see they were back. 2 Dippers, Belbroughton & D. Good to see the Belbroughton Dipper catch a fish and then it had a sing for 5 minutes before feeding again.

Not seen any Dippers along the Belne Brook at my usual locations.
So I tried further along last weekend and there was a Dipper. (Thanks for the info Ian & Mark if you see this).
It had a quiet sing & a feed.
I then found a loud, short calling Kingfisher. Good to see & hear it.
A different call to usual.

Last December I saw the Belbroughton, Belne Brook Dipper.
For the new year; Belne Brook, 3 Dippers.
2 along the Ian Brynes stretch (thanks again Ian!)
The other upstream which could mean 3 possible territories.

Nice one Jason. A very productive little stream 🙂👌
