greendoom, it would help immensely if you posted where this bird was seen and the time of year the pic was taken.

It's a 1st year bird (grey iris) so I suppose feom this autumn? I think Eurasian Reed Warbler but can't completely exclude Marsh Warbler.

So much for that, grey iris = 1cy :-C

If it's a bird in spring to me it looks more like Marsh Warbler. But I can't exclude Reed Warbler.

if this is a bird in spring it looks more like a eurasian reed warbler to me, roland. marsh would be fresh and with a yellowish tone on underparts, 'greenish' on upperparts.

Maybe it's my screen, it does look rather olive-brown. But I can live with Eurasian Reed as I'm not sure. Always find it hard to tell them apart on photos alone.

Looks very rusty-brown Reed Warbler colour to me too. And it's perched on a Reed Phragmites stem . . . :t:
