Hummingbird with strip in Nevada, USA (1 Viewer)

Saw this hummingbird at the Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve.

It looks different than other hummingbirds we've seen there, usually we see Anna's, Costa's, and Black-Chinned.

The orange thing it's interested in isn't a flower, it was a marker the preserve had placed on the plant. They do this occasionally.

Any suggestions on what this might be?

I'll admit to having limited experience with Hummingbirds... I have deleted my ID as the more I look at the pics, the more i am undecided. I will certainly watch this thread...
