Had my little Nikons for several months.
Previous compacts were Zeiss 10x25 (25years old) and Opticron DBA 8x21.
I wanted a replacement for my trusty Zeiss 10x25.
Due to the age of the 10x25, I was aware of the limitations (no phase coating and not sure if they were Multi coated).
Coupled with my increasing inability to hold steady a 10x magnification binocular, I purchased the Opticron DBA on the strength of comments posted on this forum.
Compared to the old 10x25 the Opticrons were brighter, have a much greater FOV and better eye relief.
However, I did not consider the Opticrons as sharp as the old Zeiss compacts and the Opticrons were a little larger than I expected.
Again on the strength of comments on this forum I took a chance and purchased a pair of Nikon HGL 8x20.
A wonderful bright, high contrast image that is sharp right to the edge of the field of view and with great eye relief.
I wear spectacles and I can see the entire FOV.
I have just purchased the new Swarovski EL 8.5x42. Superb
These little Nikons offer a view that given the size limitation is optically very close to the new EL and in no way disappoints.
In my view an amazing compact, carry anywhere binocular.
