Pros
  • Image stabilizing, flat field, great eye relief
Cons
  • Little heavy for 10 X 30
I bought these because they were such a good deal, and have never regreted it. I\'ve never understood why these are not recommended more often for birding. My brother has a pair of B & L 10 X 43 Elites that are highly thought of, and in an A/B comparison between them we both thought it was too close to call, they give very similar views, both have a very flat field, both snap to focus, both are bright, etc. etc. There is little difference between them, except for the Canon\'s image stabilizing feature, which works extremely well, and the fact that the Elites cost about 3 times as much... I would buy these again in a heartbeat and would never willingly give them up.

Pros
  • image stabalization
Cons
  • makes me want to buy the bigger version!
Freedom from the tyrany of tripods/monopods, for a 30mm lens the image is very bright. Slight downside - some people feel a little odd/seasick as we are just not used to images that don\'t wobble.

Having said the above, if we broken them I\'d buy a new pair them in a heartbeat.
