I recently purchased a pair of the Pentax AD 8x25 WP without any need for owning them. A few days prior to buying these, I received a pair of Swarovski 10x25 CL Pocket binoculars as a gift. I happened to wander into a store and come across the Pentax, while looking for a cheap pair of binoculars for my 2 year old daughter. I was taken back at the design similarities of the Swaro and Pentax.
After testing them out, I was pleasantly surprised with the performance. They provided a nice clear image, with a good focus knob. When comparing them to the Swarovski, these are brighter (keeping in mind that the exit pupil is larger). However, the resolution, while good, is not to the level of the Swarovski.
So, I decided to buy these and plan to give them to my daughter to use.
At the end of the day, I have to consider that these cost a tad over $100 CAD, while the Swarovski costs $1000 CAD. I would not hesitate to purchase them again.
