I have 100mm version and dumped the zoom for the 30x eyepiece for seawatching. Beware the tiny screws that hold the tripod attaching plate to the threads on mine shredded rendering it useless I now use a bean bag which is fine on the seawall or in a hide.
It is significantly worse in performance than my Opticron HR ED 80 not as bright, bit of colour fringing at times and not crystal clear at the edges but then it is significantly less expensive and overall I'm quite happy with it

I have the 100mm version. Very good for a first scope. Sturdy tripod needed!!

  • Zoom lens poor at high magnification.
I have the Acuter ST22-67X100 zoom spotting scope angled, which has a larger objective lens than the 80. Overall very pleased with it and it does enhance my bird watching. Was disappointed with the zoom lens, fine at the lower magnification but blurred from 45x up. I purchased a fixed ME19 lens approx 30x and find this much better, also a wider view and all for 25 extra excellent.
Hoping to use with a digital camera, but no success yet.

I am sure if I used a more expensive scope I would see the difference but just starting out I find this better than good.

The bag is alright to carry it in but I always take it off completly to use.
