I spoke to JHWR re the bill pattern of his bird...

I spoke to JHWR re the bill pattern of his bird he had Tuesday. It did have red and black in the bill,so not the same bird.Would be interesting to have comments on Andy's photos.

Gropper reeling from reed bed

The 2nd Grasshopper Warbler was apparently heard reeling from the reed bed as opposed to bramble,scrub etc.Has Savi's Warbler been ruled out.I've replied to Andy Pitt on Twitter to that effect but...

I spent over 3 hours on the whole of the reserve but did not hear Cettis.Doesn't augur well given the weather and time of year.

May well have been the same Ruff i saw fly in as i was going through the gulls.There was no entry in the log for Ruff or Red Kite,significant birds, which would have been helpful.

Very pale juv Iceland Gull on the grass at the junction of Cleveland Road and Balsall Heath Road at 11.45.Taking very little notice of pedestrians passing within 15 metres.
