It records into both channels but only mono (same signal in each channel).
Good sound and OK to carry...

I use a 8GB SDHC on my H4 with no problems, 12 hours of recording in Wav-format. But I had to upgrade my card-reader to make use of the SDHC-card, another option is to connect it directly to your PC...
