If you could also get a long lens for the d3200, it would take better photos. Otherwise, the P900 is used by many for bird (or other small thing far away) photography. It's a good choice.

So I went a got the MM4 60mm/45 with the SDLv2 and 23mm. I bought it from Out Of This World (http://outofthisworldshop.com/optics/). They were able to sell it "unbundled" without the HDF zoom (B&H...

Q2 - As mentioned, EXIF is easily edited, so you cannot tell for sure. If no one is malicious, you could likely tell if the editing software did the right thing, but it's haphazard at best.

MM4 kit question

I'm going up to a reseller to test out an MM4 60mm. This would be my only scope and would be used in addition to 10x42 or 8x33 bins. Sometimes on a tripod, sometimes from a vehicle window mount. I...

You could also consider the Minox BL 8x44 HD (not the BR). I really liked the 8x33, so I assume the 8x44 is also pretty great (I have not tried the x44). The 8x44 is about 450 euro new.

I was...

I know with the Nikon 300mm f/4 PF works very well with the 1.4 TC. I'd take that combo. I agree that more reach is what you want.

What I would do is take something about the size of the birds you...

TSN-550 series?

I've not seen much on the TSN-550 series since the early posts towards the end of 2017.

Do people use this model? Or is it not really worth the premium?

Another thing you can try is this, which is what many bird shooters user.

The f-stop will affect how much depth of the photo is in focus. The larger the f-stop the more depth that is in focus.

For mid-zoom, it should not be a problem because you are around 100mm. At max...

This is a smallish egret at Da-an forest park, Taipei, hanging out in the trees over the central pond. I suspect it's a Chinese Egret.

I was just looking at the ZS70 vs HX90/HX99. The ZS70 is quite a bit bigger than the HX99 and they are both 1/2.3" sensors with the same zoom range. The ZS70 is a handful more MPs.

I tried the MKE-600 on a Nikon d850, but did not like the low gain. I have not used the MKE-400, but suspect it's no better than the MKE-600 for birds. It is 19 mV/Pa and 16 dB noise (both battery...
