Thanks. I'm heading there on Monday. I haven't found out much further except that the lonely planet says that Salina's lagoon attracts large numbers of birds in April, so presumably in September too....

Panama Storm-Petrels

I saw several Storm-Petrels from the Panama City-Contadora ferry on 2nd April. They were quite big. Were they most likely Black Storm-Petrels?

Ah, I see wader means herons, egrets and storks in North America. To us it means what you call shorebirds. There were loads of herons etc. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wader
