Hi,
This photo was taken July 28, 2007 in the Lake Maurepas area in southeastern Louisiana.
Possibly a juvenile red-bellied or golden-fronted woodpecker?? The lower rump seems to be unbarred,...

I appreciate your thoughts. The bird moved very, very quickly and was spotted in thick growth near the ground. I thought it was going to fly away, but it just left its perch and fluttered its wings...
