Pair of coin-operated binoculars stolen in Massachusetts

Most likely drug related, users to sell for drug money or dealers hoping to use them to spot the police.
Shame though.
Fujinon makes coin operated bino's but they are not cheap.
Same as their ship...

your experience with aging eyes and binos

I will be 67 shortly, however my eyes (except in my teens and early twenties) were never all that good and I have steadiness issues now too.
The lower power binos just work better for me, seven and...

Swarovski ATX 65 or Leupold Mark IV 12x40x 60mm

I had the Leupold before I got my Swarovski, it was dark (I had the military model which did not have the ED lens).
Note that most military sniper units now use scopes with better optical quality...

Meostar S2 82mm APO c/w 30-60mm zoom

I have a Swaro 65mm and the Kowa 663 (last generation).
The Kowa is pretty damn good and works well, just don't compare it to a Leica, Swaro or Zeiss.
For a reasonably priced optic it is great and...

Meostar S2 82mm APO c/w 30-60mm zoom

Price seems way to low which usually should throw up red flags.
Be very careful.
Wonder how good those North Korean knock offs are?
Hope it is the real deal and you get a bargain.
Good luck.

Death of the Alpha

I guess we should welcome the new middle priced brands that give people great optics at lower prices.
Their will always be those of us, when we can afford it, that will chose the best glass because...

Death of the Alpha

The death of the Alpah binoculars and infact most binoculars and scopes will be the drone.
With the price dropping why should someone get out of a nice warm car, house or building and use binoculars...

Death of the Alpha

I am always amazed and entertained by the "My almost is as good as your best" threads.
I find size makes a big difference, the smaller the glass the higher the quality needs to be in IMHO and...

Zeiss Victory 8x20 vs Leica Ultravid 8x20

I finally got the Zeiss to go with my Leica and Nikon.
For me, ergonomics on the Leica and Zeiss are a toss up, YMMV.
The Leica, Nikon and Zeiss are a toss up, again for me, optically, but I prefer...

modern military binoculars

I would be surprised if they (the Steiner 8x30) were not laser and nuclear flash protected.
With the use of much, much smaller and inexpensive drones it seems 7x40, 7x50 and 8x30 binoculars are not...

modern military binoculars

Lots of interesting glass out there for the military collector.
The newer glass is laser and radiation flash resistant in many cases.
Steiners are disposable, many parts are glued together and they...

Leitz 7x35b

The older Leitz bino's like the 7x35b are not water or fog proof, I know this from experience, having seen several fog up, including my own.
Most of the 7x35b's I have seen have a bit of a dark view...

I also have the 9x36, purchase last week, storage wear only.
They are still pretty good glass and being high class porro's (for their time) have a bit of elegance.
Seems so many glasses these days...

Up to $1,000.00 yes, better quality control, better customer service and a better binocular.
In my limited experience mid range companies like Leupold and Vortex provide really great customer...

I have the Swaro 65 HD and the Kowa 663 ED (bought as a gift that was refused).
I know you have the 603...which I not compared.
I use the 20x50 zoom on the Swaro.
The Swaro seems slightly brighter...

Best Binocular Best Price

Dennis thanks for a great post and the info.
I like the view given by the silver prism coatings of my old B&L 7x42's so will go for the Atlas 7x36 for a glove box bino. At $200.00 you really can't...
