Good point Richard Scott. I use my scope purely for viewing so I couldn't comment about Digi Scoping. I use a DSLR + long lens for my photography rather than a scope.

I think that one is an 824 rather than a TSN 4 - note the sloped back and it states an 82mm objective in the description. If I am right then it is even better value!

Like you I use the SDL V2...

Good point Bryan!

On small birds I find 6/7 meters a long way with my 300 F2.8 and try not to go beyond 10/12 meters with my 800 F5.6. Naturally on larger birds (Bitterns etc) one can go quite a bit...

I know where you are coming from - I normally use a Gitzo GT4542LS for scope work, though my GT2531 is also good (but not as good!). I pointed the OP at that one as it is the only one that looks like...

Thanks for the quick replies folks!

You have already given me a LOT to think about and some suggestions that I hadn't thought about too.

I wasn't sure which section to put this in as I am not thinking of any brand in particular, mods please move if appropriate.

Anyway I am thinking about getting some low to mid priced bins. Currently...

Just an observation.
I used to have Myopia - though it was far worse than yours! I had a -10 for my right eye and still needed the full -3 adjustment that my ELs gave. My left eye was better at -6...

As Alexis says I also think you will be looking at RRS/Gitzo to get any weight reduction and have reasonable stability.

However, as you live in the UK, RRS are simply out of the question - but a...

The 150-600 Sigma and Tamron lenses offer great value and focal length as well as being easily portable. A 500 (or longer) prime lens would be great but they get heavy and very expensive. Also have a...

Am I reading this correctly? You are asking for advice between a (Sigma/Tamron) 150-600 compared to a Canon 600/800mm lens.

I previously owned the Canon 600 F4 L IS and now own the Canon 800 F5.6 L...
