Yesterday I got the opportunity to try as well Monarch 7 8x30, Monarch HG 8x30 and EDG 8x30. I tried several other binoculars too so I didn't do a careful comparison.
All of them are great binoculars...

Thanks for your replies. I think this can be a matter of personal opinion. And what was premium binoculars a few years ago maybe isn't considered to be that today. For example I think there is no...

Some month ago I tried the new SLC 8x42. And I tried SV 8x42 earlier.
Both are so excellent binoculars. I think the edge sharpness of SV is mostly a noticeable advantage with the binocular mounted...

I am a bit surprised that Holger find this binocular so good that it replaced Fujinon 10x50 despite Fujinon has outstanding edge performance while Meopta is sharp to around 70% of the field.
But I...

Thanks for the link to the review!
Unfortunately 6,5x32 is reported as having the smallest sweet spot in the series. But a personal try out will show whether I find it still satisfying. Can't wait...

I think you are right. I tried a Habicht several years ago. Yes, eye relief is short with such a small eye lens. But I remember the image was so brilliant and sharp. And here we have an example of...

I am very happy with Morpheus 12,5 and 17,5mm to my Pentax 65mm scope. Never noticed a yellow tint but maybe I am less sensitive to that.

I understand, they are all classleading in this respect while the 65 deg AFOV of 6,5x32 is extraordinary with such a low power in a roof glass.

While 6,5x is considered as lower than the majority of users want, this model is the only which really sticks out among the figurations with its 10deg TFOV.

Gijs van Ginkel,

What I understand Steve is saying there can be a difference between the actual brightness and what the eyes perceive.
There are two alternative explanations here:

These Pentax models seem to be totally overlooked and I have not read any review of any of them. I guess this is because of the 50deg AFOV, which is considered as too narrow compared to the high end...

Hi Steve,

I find this very interesting. With 8x the image brightness is ~56% brighter than with 10x, so I have always claimed that 8x is better than 10x in low light. This is obvious if looking at...

6,5x32 with 10deg FOV is indeed one of the most interesting binoculars since long time! Basically like a slightly scaled down wide angle 7x35 roof glass. The question is just wether the useful eye...
