Really, there is no reason to NOT buy a new SLC. Same glass and coatings as the EL SV. It's not any less of an optical instrument than the EL, just different. If you can live without a flat...

Best recollection.... Monarch HG about a 70% sweet spot. Of course the definition of "sweet spot" can vary user to user. SFs sweet spot would be much larger. Very much in the ballpark of a SV. ...

So you bring up Roger Vine. I too like his website and his reviews. I know he wears glasses(I believe even the same kind as me)so his comments on ER...

Enjoyed your review!

I've considered the Ultravid BR/BLs myself. I'd probably have one if they made a 8X25.

I tend to agree with this for the most part. If one needs a binocular, get a BINOCULAR. That truly IS the best choice. My binocular choice HAS trickled downwards as far as size goes though. First...

I agree, same here. I don't notice a lot of difference between the SLC, the UVHD+, or the FL. One is just as "immersive" as the next. Now throw the Meopta B.1 7X50 and the Habicht 7X42 into the...

So far I have nothing but good to say about the Zeiss Terra ED 8X25. It's been surprising good optically. I've used them a good bit. If course they aren't my first choice but WAY better than I...

I've got a few 10X42s....Swarovski EL10X42 and 10X50, Zeiss FL, Zeiss Conquest HD, Noctivid. The 10X42s are perfectly fine for most uses. It's rare to really NEED a 10X50 or a 10X56. Although it...

I agree! Provided one doesn't wear glasses for less than $500, you can't beat it. For $325, I currently don't KNOW of a 8X30 that will beat a Nikon Monarch 7 8X30.

I don't know know anything...

Great report Daniel!

It's a shame there aren't more quality 7X binoculars even AVAILABLE anymore. I guess the UVHD+, Opticron Discovery, and the Swarovski Habicht are about it? Optolyth has a...

Eye relief as mentioned above. It's an extremely user-friendly binocular for someone that wears eyeglasses. The 8X Noctivid has more FOV AND more ER than it's UVHD+ counterpart. The 10X Noctivid...

I would have the UVHD+12X50 if it had adequate eye relief. It didn't so I bought the SV EL 12X50. I really can't think of any reason to NOT buy the...

Yep! Almost always comes down to focus, weight, ergonomics in no certain order. The only exception is the SV 8.5X42 that gets pick mainly because it is an 8.5X. But it goes un-picked for that same...

Between the two I'd go the with 8.5X42 Swarovski. It's hard to go wrong with that binocular. The main issue with that HT is its 10X. I pause a LITTLE more if it were 8X42.
